Armed with our new gear and a can-do attitude, we confidently set out to film our 50 State Wine Challenge debut amidst the scenic Arizona desert. We didn't just want to upload the first video, ho no. We had a much more ambitious goal: capture both an intro and a full episode in a single day trip. Oh, the naiveté! As it turns out, desert filmmaking presents unique challenges that no amount of YouTube research can fully prepare you for. Let's just say, our first foray into the world of wine vlogging was a memorable (and humbling) experience. Well, as a fellow Arizonan once said, "Reality Hits You Hard Bro'".

The initial filming trip served as a valuable, albeit humbling, lesson in the realities of video production. Undeterred, we channelled our disappointment into a rigorous two-week training regimen. Daily practice sessions and refined filming techniques bolstered our confidence for a second attempt, this time at a conveniently located wine room closer to home. While new challenges inevitably arose, we navigated them with greater awareness and determination. The result? A near-complete first episode, achieved through a combination of perseverance and adaptability. (Though, be warned, the final product may still surprise you!)So needless to say Mrs. Kay and I finished the day with almost nothing accomplished and but did have a big dose of optimism. Pretty lame of me to think I was going to go out and do on one day what people spend a lifetime perfecting (check out this debacle).

The journey had begun in earnest. With renewed determination, we set our sights on filming our first true episode. But would our newfound skills be enough to overcome the inevitable challenges? Find out in the next chapter of our 50 State Challenge!
